Enjoy the quiet grandeur of the outdoors by sleeping under the stars, or tent camping in one of our primitive campsites.
Located on JKR's 220 acre nature preserve, each of these sites has a campfire ring, benches/logs on which to sit, and ample space for a tent or four. If you enjoy "roughing it," the Primitive Camp Sites are for you! There are plenty of trails to hike, and sites to see.

  • Campers have access to the Pool Bathhouse for bathroom/shower/water access which is a 3 min (0.15 miles) walk away from the closest campsite (PC 5).
Rental Info
  • No Minimum Stay
  • Rate: $30/night for up to 6 people. $5/night for each additional happy camper
  • Rental Season: August 15th-May 15th
  • 25% deposit and signed user agreement required to hold your reservation

Cancellations
Deposits are refundable only when your cancellation is received in writing (like an email), 30 or more days prior to your visit, minus a 10% (of the total reservation) admin fee.
During your stay, take advantage of our self guided activities like: visiting our Labyrinth and meditation garden, hiking (look out point has a great view!), bird watching, our self guided nature trail, mountain biking with your own bike, disc golf, catch and release fishing, and more. At its heart, John Knox Ranch is a summer camp. We have learned that all people (young in age and young at heart!) love the summer camp classics like: canoeing, archery, swimming. tie dyeing, rock climbing, etc. Contact us about adding one of these guided activities to your reservation.
